Breathtaking buildings, where architecture meets its zenith… But this is just a glimpse of architecture zenith in the World.
This amazing place is in Ecuador and belongs to the Galapagos archipelago. This unbelievable shallow water lagoon in the middle of the sea is a food court for millions of flamingos.
2 – Nyiragongo Crater – Africa
It is the largest lava lake in the world.
3 – Navagio Beach – Greece
It is one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. Bathed by the crystal-clear sea, this beach is on the edge of the escarpment of a gigantic rock. As if Nature didn’t make the place special enough, a sunken ship in the middle of the beach completes the dream look. This beach is on the island of Zakynthos, and attracts thousands of wealthy tourists who arrive aboard cruise ships, sailboats and million-dollar speedboats.
4 – Havasu – Arizona Falls – USA
Here is a place as spectacular as it is inaccessible. To get to this unbelievable waterfall in the middle of the Arizona desert, you just need to travel by plane, by car and finally by horse. There is also a helicopter that takes people there. This place is located on the Havasupai Indian Reservation in the Grand Canyon National Park.
5 – Mont Saint Michel – France
One of the most interesting places on Earth is Monte San Michel, which at certain times is engulfed by water and reveals the splendor of the construction. It is located in a medieval town called Avranches. There is the monastery that gives the place its name. This monastery, fortified in the 13th century, integrates a group of three cities whose fortifications and development are remarkable: Aigues Mortes (1270-1276), meeting point of the Crusaders heading for the Holy Land; Carcassone, famous for its defences and Avignon, Christendom’s alternative seat (1309-1377). These fortified cities, called “bastide” marked the frontiers of the kingdoms at the end of the Middle Ages, serving as elements of defense and giving the people new social opportunities. More than 300 were built in France alone, between the years 1220 and 1350.
6 – Death Valley – California– USA
In Death Valley (one of the driest places on Earth) is the place called Playa Death Valley. There, a strange phenomenon takes place. For years the phenomenon has intrigued people. It was the mystery of the walking stones. It is a huge open area, which contains some stones that over the years and years have left a trace in the ground, as if they were walking. The tracks curve, change direction and sometimes get in the way. The place is definitely one of the weirdest known to men.
7 – Pamukkale – Turkey
It is a set of thermal pools that descend in the form of a cascade on a hill located in the Hierapolis – Pamukkale site, UNESCO World Heritage Site in Turkey. Pamukkale means “cotton castle” in Turkish. Looking at it seems to be cold, by the impression that it is snow, however, the water contained in these basins is hot! The scientific explanation for this phenomenon is that the thermal places located below the mount cause the spillage of calcium carbonate, which solidifies on the surface, as if it were marble. The place is totally suitable for swimming and the landscape is phenomenal! The effect of erosion by water over time was giving the hill varied forms, molding it in incredible and even bizarre ways, that keep changing continuously. Both the water and the “waterfalls” change color according to sunlight, resulting in a spectacular effect! Without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in the world.
8 – The steps of India– India
Known as Baoli Stepwell, they are unusual architectural formations found in western India and Pakistan as well. The steps seem infinite, and this was done because, depending on the time of year, the amount of water in the reservoirs varied. The look of the place gives it an incredible, almost dreamlike appearance.
9 – Blue Lake Cave – Bonito – Brazil
The Blue Lake Cave is one of the most beautiful places in Brazil. So much so that it is in a place called Bonito, in Mato Grosso do Sul. By the way, Brazil has so many fantastic places that it was impossible to choose just one. I’ll have to make a post only from Gumps places in Brazil. But just take a look at the beauty of the place that this cave is, where the light tinges a blue that looks like a badly done special effect because it is so beautiful. Drooling!
10 – Palau – Micronesia
By far, Palau is one of the most beautiful and exotic corners on the planet. The crystal clear sea, the rocks covered with vegetation, so many islands that it’s impossible to count. It looks like 3D, but it’s real.
An amazing compilation, even though there are other amazing places left out from this selection, which was not made by me, but had to be shared! Hope you enjoy it… And dream a bit for the next escape after this pandemic is over!
It is a single stretch of road near Bregagh Armoy in County Antrim, Ireland. The beeches that protect the road have grown too close together, competing for the light. The trees were planted by a family to decorate the access to their Georgian mansion many years ago. Today, the road is one of the most photographed postcard in Ireland.
The Gerlach Desert Geyser (U.S.A.)
Everything was pure aridity in the Gerlach area, near Nevada, until a group of men decided to drill insearch of water for their livestock and crops. What they found was thermal water that, since then, emanates from the rocky terrain, initiating a sedimentation process capable of forming a natural sculpture that looks more like a fantasy landscape. Today, it’s almost a tourist attraction, but it was all an accidental fluke.
The wonderful remains of an ancient mining exploration (Las Médulas, Spain)
In the region of El Bierzo, in the province of León, there is an incredible natural place, although the curious mountain shapes were originated by the gold mining carried out by the Romans in that place.
Tunnel modeled by train passage (Ukraine)
This time, nature adapted to the passage of man in the form of a train. In a dense forest, along a railway track, a tunnel was formed that fits the train, a leafy gallery known as the “Tunnel of Love“!
The landslide that gave birth to a paradise of scale (Texas)
This time, the “accident” did not involve the hand of man, but the tireless work of Nature for hundreds or thousands of years.
A little over a century ago, in an area near Austin, Texas, an underground river (after having eroded a cavity for thousands of years) caused a landslide that gave way to a small sheltered oasis, with calm waters, a waterfall and vegetation which is seen as a completely unusual place.
The pool (Hamilton Pool) is surrounded by huge limestone slabs and decorated with stalactites, mosses and some bushes that grow hanging between the rocks. Today, it receives hundreds of visitors, especially in summer.

The islands where the USA and Russia meet, and the East becomes West!
The Diomede Islands on the horizon
Two continents, two countries
Two cultures, two regimes
There is a place in the world where the territories of the United States and Russia are less than 4 km away, but any route between them will be 24 hours apart…
Location of the Diomede Islands, lost between 2 continents.
We are talking about the unknown and isolated Diomede Islands, in the Bering Strait, the inhospitable sea portion that separates Alaska from the far east of Asia, where probably the first inhabitants of America crossed into these lands.
In Little Diomede, its inhabitants squeeze themselves on the steep slope
North American territory!
The two islands, known as Big Diomede and Little Diomede, are separated by a strip of water of only 4 km, which is frozen during a good part of the year, allowing the passage on foot between them. The curious thing is that Big Diomede is the most easterly point in Russia, and Little Diomede is the most western point in the United States.
Cold War, a period to be forgotten
During the Cold War period, the natives who inhabited the islands before Russian or American colonization were not allowed to move between the islands, nor to exchange any type of information, in the area that became known as “Ice Curtain”.
The village of Little Diomede, with only 170 inhabitants
After the end of World War II, all the natives of the Russian island of Big Diomede were transferred to the mainland, and the archipelago maintained a small settlement only on the North American island of Little Diomede, which today has about 170 inhabitants, in one of the locations most isolated on the planet.
Detail of Little Diomede. It doesn’t look pleasant
What makes the place even more curious is that exactly between the two islands the “International Date Line” passes, creating a time zone of no less than 24 hours in a distance that is so small that it is so visual.
The International Date Line runs right between the islands
In 1987, an emblematic event brought small islands to the headlines around the world. American swimmer Lynne Cox crossed the little more than 3,700 meters that separate the sister islands, in a gesture of approximation between the superpowers that were striving to strengthen ties that had been so long apart.
Today, in times of peace, there are several projects to create monuments that would symbolize peace between the two countries. In a recent contest, a project called “Bridge of Memory”, linking the two islands, was among the champions, in what would be the first link between America and Asia after tens of thousands of years.
Bridge project between the islands, known as “Bridge the Memory”Project Detail. A fantastic engineering work for few to know.
Umberto Eco, in his novel “L’isola del giorno prima” explores the idiosyncrasies of living in Diomede very well…
Umberto Eco wrote about the weather
[…] Midnight on Friday, here on the ship, it is midnight on Thursday on the island. […] If you travel from America to Asia, you lose a day; if, in the opposite direction, you travel, you win one day: that is why Daphne [the ship] traveled the way of Asia, and you, stupid, the way of America. You are now a day older than me! It’s not funny? […]
A History teacher asks if he or she can explain this …
… but I don’t think they can do it.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were very concerned with, above all, civil rights. Both of their wives lost children while they inhabited the white house.
Both Presidents were murdered on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head.
And now it becomes more strange:
Lincoln’s secretary was named Kennedy,
Kennedy’s secretary was named Lincoln.
Both were murdered by someone from the southern states. Both Presidents were succeeded by a southern man named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. London Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who murdered Lincoln, was born in 1839… Lee Harvey Oswald, who murdered Kennedy, was born in 1939…
Both assassins were known by their 3 names. Both of their names consisted of 15 letters.
And now, hold on: Lincoln was murdered in a theater called “Ford” Kennedy was murdered in a Lincoln brand car made by “Ford”
Lincoln was murdered in a theater and his murderer ran to a warehouse to hide. Kennedy was murdered from a warehouse and his murderer fled to a theater and hid there.
Booth and Oswald were murdered before their lawsuit.
And here’s the icing on the cake….
1 week before Lincoln was murdered, he was in Monroe, Maryland 1 week before Kennedy was murdered, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
Who researched all this?
Amazing: 1) Fold a $20 bill in two parts…
2) Fold it again and take care to fold it exactly as in the image below:
3) Fold the other part as it is here:
4) Now turn it over…
What a coincidence! A simple geometric fold of a $20 dollar bill reveals a catastrophe, visible on all $20 dollar bills !!!
Coincidence?
Well, you decide… If this was still not enough, this is what you saw: First: the burning Pentagon…
Then, the Twin Towers…
And look here … !!!
Three incidental disasters on a $20 dollar bill? Disaster 1 (Pentagon) Disaster 2 (Twin Towers) Disaster 3 (Osama) ???
And it gets even better: 11 + 9 = $20 !! (9/11 = September 11, the day of the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon)
Strange, huh?
This is a history lesson, which people don’t mind reading!
As ilhas onde EUA e Rússia se encontram, e o Leste se torna Oeste
As ilhas Diomedes no horizonte
Detalhe do Projeto.
